Ways to stay healthy while studying abroad

A proverb saying it all in one line, “Prevention is better than cure”. While staying abroad for whatever reasons may be, one thing that bugs everyone is getting sick. It is especially sickening when no one is there to take care of you. So what do you do to avoid such situations? Well, nothing much, except to take good care of yourself.

Follow these steps to prevent as many illnesses as possible.

One hour of regular exercise. So it is recommended that you get at least some exercising early in the morning.

Walking every day is very helpful in staying fit. Walking to your room/hostel from the university is a good way to keep yourself healthy & fit.

It is also helpful if you can find yourself a workout buddy as they may help in motivating you or push your limits for the better.

Keep yourself busy, as an idle mind brings boredom which later on can have tragic effects on the mental health. Always try to keep yourself busy, meet new people, go to new places, etc.

Join a team for extra-curricular activities, if possible a sporting team, it poses as an excuse to stay fit and helps keep one busy.

Dancing can also be helpful to keep one happy. Make it a point to find happiness anywhere you can. Keep the mind fresh and active.

Cook for yourself, as eating outside regularly can be harmful.

Keep common medications handy in case of emergencies. If you have any allergies, be sure to keep the medications in stock and in place.

Meditations help keep off many sicknesses as well. Practice yoga if you haven’t yet, they help keep the mind fresh and body fit.

And the most important thing, be happy, you’re in a foreign land! Most don’t get this chance, don’t be overcautious, and enjoy the different land!

These are a few of the measures you should take into considerations for keeping yourself healthy.
